What is digital marketing?

Digital Marketing is the use of the latest online tools and techniques aimed at increasing sales or growing a brand. These include:

What is behavioural science?

Behavioural Science is the science of human behaviour, describing how people actually respond to stimuli rather than how we commonly expect them to. As a scientific concept it’s been around since the 18th century, but it came to prominence with the economic crash of 2007/8, which could only be explained through Behavioural Science. This led to the establishment of Behavioural Insight Teams in the US and UK, which have since gone from strength to strength and been replicated around the world.

In practical terms it involves identifying the Behavioural Effects (sometimes called “cognitive biases”) at work within the particular situation being examined, then applying known techniques to overcome them.

The impact of applying Behavioural Science can be very substantial – in a systematic review of academic articles undertaken in 2020 (National Bureau of Economic Research Working Paper 27954), the average impact was an increase of 33% in the effectiveness of interventions such as communications campaigns.
